Wendy and Toby had been planning their wedding for almost three years. This may seem like they were somewhat procrastinating this major life commitment, though they were actually struggling with many scheduling and family interest conflicts. Toby had always wanted a very large wedding and his mother was also advocating that structure. She, in particular wanted the couple to invite all of the extended family members, most of which Toby had never even met. Wendy was uncomfortable with this idea and had always preferred a smaller and more intimate setting for a wedding. Finally, the couple agreed that not only would the wedding be small, but that it would take place in Singapore, which had been a dream of Wendy’s since she had visited the city with her family when she was fifteen.
Wendy and Toby both wanted their Singapore wedding to be perfect and were more than relieved when both of their families and all of their close friends supported the idea and also committed to attending. This was really all the couple, especially Wendy, wanted and the more they discussed their plans the more excited Toby became about the idea. Their greatest difficulty came when decided between the Sentosa Resort & Spa, 88 Restaurant, The Grand Copthorne Waterfront Hotel and the Marina Mandarin as the perfect location for their ceremony and reception. They finally decided on the ballroom of the Marina Mandarin as it came closest to what Wendy had originally imagined for them, and since Toby had never been to Singapore before, he diverted to Wendy for the final decision. However, to be fair, Toby got to choose most of the items on the menu and the couple ended up enjoying the planning of their dream wedding almost as much as the ultimately enjoyed the wedding itself. Well, okay, not quite that much.
