This Saturday, May 1st, will be the 136th run for the roses. The Kentucky Derby, by far the most popular and prestigious horse race in the country, is the first jewel of the Triple Crown. It will be followed by the Preakness on May 15th and the Belmont on June 5th. The last horse to win all three of these races was Affirmed in 1978, but with so many great contenders you can’t help but wonder if this is year a new winner will be crowned.
