Appointment Coding, E Prescriptions and Billing with EMR Software

Electronic medical records software, EMR, is gaining greater popularity with medical offices across the country. Some of the reasons for this are the great streamlining of services and interoffice functioning. This because the software increases efficiency both in practice and with office and paperwork practices.

Most of the programs include services for appointment setting, and even color coding options so you can immediately recognize the category of appointment that is coming in. For instance, you can code all flu or seasonal illness symptom appointments blue, and all general well-being check ups in yellow, and all on-going condition evaluations with red. This immediate information is available without ever having to read a word of their face sheet.

Other standard services that are typically included with the EMR software include electronic prescriptions, and electronic billing. The first of these two services, e-prescribing allows the prescription to be sent directly from the doctor’s office to the pharmacy and allows the patient quicker access to their medicine. Electronic billing is a great resource for medical offices and can improve payment processing times from insurance agencies.
