Paying Tribute to the Beatles

There are few musical groups in history that have generated the level of admiration, respect, and affection as the Beatles. While early critics may have written off Beatlemania as a hormonal reaction by the teenage girls that made up most of the audience at Beatles concerts, the longevity of the band’s work has disproved their theory. The music created by the Beatles has long outlived the band and even some of its members.

That imitation is the sincerest form of flattery can not be disputed. Just look at the popularity of Beatles costumes at adult parties and the success of the recent home video game that allows participants to play and sing along to the band’s catalog of songs.

As the years past, imitation is not the only form of tribute being payed to the Fab Four . The group has earned every major lifetime and career achievement award. The individual members have been knighted and had schools, buildings, and even streets named after them. There is even talk of naming streets after original band members who were dropped before the Beatles became a household name. It is likely that as long as there are living Beatles, or children of Beatles, people will be paying tribute to the band in one way or another.

Do Foreign Call Centers Protect Customer Data?

The fears that make the media rant and rave when talking about the horrors of outsourcing are usually focused on lost jobs and revenue. As the economic becomes more global, people have to take responsibility for adapting and adjusting to the job market, just as farriers and buggy makers had to adjust to the advent of the automobile. Companies that make profits by outsourcing business processes and other services to offshore data and call centers are able to reinvest that capital into their primary business activities and into their local communities, bringing new innovations and investments that replace the lost salaries. What the media should be addressing is whether the security offered by foreign data centers is adequate to protecting customer information from theft.

Information security in general is a growing concern for any company. They must take steps to ensure that customer banking and identity information is protected, especially since most of it is now stored in remote data centers. More and more companies are taking advantage of cloud computing services, locating their servers and customer databases in centers that may be in their own city or state, but could also be across the country or in another part of the world. Overall, data and call centers in India are doing a good job of protecting customer data. However, it’s still a good idea for any company thinking of moving data overseas to make sure to inspect the security practices of specific BPOs to ensure that their customers will be safe.
